double pager

i started scrapbooking with 8.5x11 pages. moved to 12x12. liked it. i now do pages on this format. tried mini albums. loved them. but a 2-page layout? i have a hard time putting together a layout with 2 pages. the first one i did was based on a becky higgin's sketch. i never did it again.

this month, got the courage to take on the KAYA November challenge. the last of the weeklies is a double pager. how will i ever do it?

checked my magazines. browsed the web. finally, in ali's book i found the perfect inspiration. i just love this girl.

and here is my ali edwards-inspired 2-page layout. tfl! :)

twilight

i have only these words to say. see the movie. and if you haven't read the book. try to grab a copy after seeing the movie. you'll appreciate the story, promise. :-)

now, i am off to re-reading the whole series. :-D

this pix was from yuletide '07

in a few more weeks, it'll be the most awaited time of the year {for young ones and the young once alike}. this time is really meant for our children and our parents (grandparents). we look forward to this time to make our children happy. to make their wishes come true (or at least some of them). and for our parents and grandparents, it is the time that they'll see us make our children happy.

{between the 2 of us, it's my favorite time of the year too} i just love shopping and wrapping gifts, preparing the decors and the Christmas menu and all the shenanigans we all do at Christmas time.

gift giving has always been a very important part of this season. it is also our way of sharing our blessings to those important to us. it is the time when we have {more } spare money to give to charities.

but i am worried this year. with the recession news all around. US economy affecting the world as well. big companies going bankrupt that no one can ever be secure with their jobs.

my wish is that we'll still be able to make a lot of people happy this Christmas.

thank you jiroken :-)

i haven't won any scrapping challenges but i guess this is very similar to how it feels when you get that notice from the mailman that you have a parcel to pick up.
got the notice on a thursday middle of november and was very, very excited. i wanted to dash out of the house and go to the post office that instant but i needed to wait another day for there seem to have a hundred errands each time you take your days off from work. but you won't be able to imagine the smile on my face and i owe that to Michelle. :-D

won this RAK from her birthday post. and i love all the items she sent me. i equally love the personal card she made for me. i now have an actual card from a very talented cardmaker that i can cardlift. ;-)

thanks so much Michelle for your lovely gift. :-D

and Sarah is having a RAK. so be sure to visit her blog to check it out. :-)

{giggle, giggle, giggle all the way}

I {heart} Grey's

Seriously,
I was able to catch a few episodes of the reruns of Grey's Anatomy season 1. It's already on the part when Addison accepted the offer to stay at Seattle Grace. It was the part when Derek is torn between trying to make his marriage work and his feelings for Meredith but he chooses the relationship that was tested by time. Although I know what happens after that, I still cannot help but cry when I get to think that I am feeling what Mer is feeling {I didn't mean I can relate - I am just a cry baby ;) }. It sucks to be the abandoned one.

Mer was narrating and at the end of the episode, she asked how much is too much. I like the way Grey's episode are started and ended with one of the characters narrating. A common sentiment that most characters share. Mer was pertaining to her love for Derek. It also applies to Izzie's growing fondness for Alex and Burck's attraction to Cristina Yang.

Hopefully, I'll get to start watchin the 4th Season soon. I still have Heroes, Desperate Housewives and CSI waiting in line. And from the 2 episodes I saw of Private Practive, I am so very interested in the nice Addison character. {Oh, time. So much to do, so little time}.

our pride and joy

i simply am a quiet person. and i am so shy in letting other people know how i feel. as a mom, sometimes, the happiness you feel about your child's achievements is so intense that you just want to share it to the world.

a few weeks ago, i have finished a minibook about our son's first year in school. you can say that it was a months-in-the-making project because i really do not know how to document his first time school experiences. glad that i found the solution in a mini. will have to post the pictures of the album at a later time when i have printed the journaling (i still cannot love my own handwriting {sigh}).

meantime, while i am into the proud-of-his-achievements mode...i decided to use his kindergarten recognition pictures for the kaya challenge.

Journaling: it was your first experience of school...no daycare...no summer classes...we only had blue's clues, Dora and little Einstein for your training but you sailed through kindergarten with flying colors...top of your class...amazing for a first timer...and you made us very proud...

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'

Read this at Aidisan's and wanted to share it so you can pass it along.

Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE'.

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today! It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

which female twilight character are you

saw this over at lee's page
and i myself is an esme. i wonder why. hmmm. :-D
You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family.
A loving home is of great importance to you and
you always try to make people feel welcome.
Although you have a great capacity to love,
you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be sensitive.
You're firm when you need to be,
but people trust your judgment and
appreciate the kind way you always handle things.

this cutie is sick

found this photo of JP. he was barely a year old here. he used to be so skinny. i am thankful that he gained weight when he grew older. whenever he is sick, he has enough kilos to sustain the weight loss. he's been sick for just 5 days but i already noticed his smaller belly. i can slip his shorts effortlessly when we went to the doctor. i used to have a hard time with it.

it's pretty hard for parents when kids are sick. i almost cried this morning when we had his blood tested for infection. although i was able to persuade him to had the test done, we was crying the whole time. thank goodness the technologist was very patient.

hopefully, in a few days he'll be well enough to go to school. well enough to play outside again. well enough for us to finish the half gallon of ice cream [just kidding] that has been sitting in the freezer. i just missed eating ice cream with my baby. it is our bonding time. {actually, our kitchen is our bonding place}. can't wait for you to be well, kiddo. mom and dad are also sick {maybe not literally but it feels like it} when you are.

more of

we can be sure that we will be able to see it on the 21st. :-D
{already set a date}
**************************

read this from a friend's page. can't help but share it. :-)

normal guys vs Edward Cullen

A Normal Guy would say: “I think I am falling for you.”Edward Cullen would say: “The Lion fell in Love with the Lamb”

A normal guy would pick a random song from a random artist and dedicate it to you.Edward Cullen would sing you a song he wrote for you while playing the piano.

While you are both out for dinner, a normal guy wouldn’t keep his eyes off the sexy waitress.Edward Cullen wouldn’t even notice the waitress was a female.

A normal guy, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and one hand on the radio. Edward Cullen, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and the other attached to yours.

A normal guy wouldn’t care or notice if you had nightmares.Edward Cullen would sing until your nightmares went away. “Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”

A normal guy buys you flowers and chocolates. Edward Cullen buys you a car. :-D

[am not so sure when i'll get over the twilight fever; saw these over at unity stamp company and at daiseyfreak - so clever and so cute]

can't get enough of...

...the cullens.
and bella. and edward.

[ twilight pictures were from here and here ]

it's been a while...

...since i sat down and read a book from start to finish. reading is one of my favorite things to do. and i went gaga over the twilight saga. read all 4 books in less than 2 weeks. and got a draft copy of the midnight sun (twilight from the mind of edward) too.

and now i couldn't wait until the movie is shown. hopefully, we'll be able to see it on the 21st {am so excited}.

i felt like a teenager when i read the story. i couldn't help myself from giggling sometimes. love it. love it. love it. it was very different from the usual drama that i read and i can compare it to the sweet dreams pocket books that i went crazy reading in high school. {sigh - twilight}.

am back to re-reading twilight { uh. uh. addicted ;-) }

i cannot wait to see...

early christmas

it came to me in October. :-) and it was made possible by this angel/santa [thank you :-D]
{pwede ba kaming pagkamalian na magkapatid ni rachael? hihihi}and the best part is they come in my favorite color, green. :-D

i am a slow scrapper.

indeed i am. and i am not the most patient scrapper either. i really wanted to hasten my pace (so i'll have more output which means more stash used = more {good} reason to buy new stuff {right babe?} heehee).

boy am i glad that (slowly) i am improving. scrapped a layout for the kaya challenge# 19 when i got home last night. it took me less than 2 hours (including a short phone call from the hubby) to finish the page and it's my quickest layout so far. sent the entry today. {sigh} one week down with one page done - i guess i can be happy about that :-D
meantime, you can check the other entries here.
